Radhe and Krishna Gupta hosted the successful Guru Goes Bollywood Event at their home on the evening of June 15, 2011 looking to raise awareness and support for the Mental Health Foundation in Edmonton.
Through numerous community projects in the Edmonton area, the Mental Health Foundation has worked hard to continue reversing the stigma of mental illness and associated addiction issues.
Hosts Krishna and Radhe Gupta and their son Rohit and his wife Dr. Neelam Kainth were delighted with the evening. “We offered our home because we thought it would hold more people,” said Krishna.
Some 250 guests, who had each paid $250 to attend, had a red scarf thrown around their necks and a red dot placed on their foreheads. “The dot is a tikka, a welcome,” said Krishna. “I wanted guests to feel at home in our culture.”
The successful event catered by Guru raised over $188,870, double that of last year.
