April 3, 2012- Over the weekend, Rohit Group of Companies’ very own hockey team, the Rohit Renegades participated in the 3rd annual Edmonton Scotiabank Pro-Am Tournament in support of the Gordie & Colleen Howe Fund for Alzheimer’s. The event was a one-of-a-kind opportunity that allowed the everyday hockey enthusiast to play with and against former NHL players, all in the name of Alzheimer’s research. The two day affair took place at the City of Leduc recreation centre and drew in hundreds of enthusiastic fans.
17 teams participated in this exciting event in Edmonton, where each team was able to choose and team up with an NHL Alumni of which they drafted the previous Friday, with the draft order based on the amount of total dollars each team was able to raise. The minimum amount that was required in order to participate was $25,000. In true Rohit style and spirit, the team was able to reach that goal and more thanks to the efforts of our players and the many generous donors!
The Rohit Renegades played three games between the two days and were paired with Toronto Maple Leafs’ former Defenseman Nathan Dempsey! “It was on honor just to be in the presence of someone who actually played professionally in the NHL, even more so to be able to play alongside and against some of the greatest. It was also very humbling to see them participate in something for such an important cause.” Says Kim Johnson, Area Sales Manager.
Congratulations to the Rohit Renegades on an amazing job, and also to everyone who took part in helping us to Stick it to Alzheimer’s!
