Last week was an eventful one for Rohit Communities! We had the opportunity to be one of the main supporters of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s massive Habitat for Humanity project, the Carter Work Project. We had volunteers on site all week, and they have raved about the experience.
“The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project, along with Habitat for Humanity, has brought a great initiative to cities and municipalities all across our great country. The effort that the Carters put in, and bring out of the 1000’s of volunteers is amazing! They bring awareness and solutions to the shortage of affordable housing across the globe.” – Nic Krywolt | Rohit Group Procurement Coordinator
YAYbourhood, Rohit’s feel good initiative to spread cheer wherever we go, has no signs of slowing down anytime soon. So when the chance to help out with this amazing project came up, we jumped at the opportunity.
#150ReasonsToBuild
A total of 150 homes are being built across the country to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday milestone, with half of those homes being built in Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan. We are grateful to be working alongside more than 1,000 volunteers and future home owners to bring this vision to life and can truly say we are getting even more out of it than we put in.
With this project we were able to help 75 families in Edmonton, which represents the spirit of our city’s friendly at-home feel. Jimmy Carter loves Habitat for Humanity as an organization because they “successfully remove the stigma of charity by substituting it with a sense of partnership.” To date, the Carter’s have served with over 92,260 volunteers to build and repair over 3,944 homes.
Rohit Group’s CEO, Radhe and his son Rohit visited the site on Wednesday and lent a helping hand.
