Edmonton June 22, 2014
On a perfect summer day, employees of Rohit Group of Companies laced up their running shoes as they participated in the 5 or 8 kilometer Howeward Walk Run, over the weekend to help end youth homelessness in Edmonton. The event was hosted by Homeward Trust, a non-profit organization that uses a community approach with the aim of putting an end to homelessness in Edmonton. An amazing $50,000 was raised for a meaningful cause that brought people together to create a lasting difference in the communities where they live, work and play.
The run took place at Whitemud Park with plenty of family friendly activities for the almost 200 attendees. Rohit Group had sponsored at the bronze level for the event while registering ten employees to participate with family and friends cheering them on. “The feedback from the staff attending the event was great,” explains Kara Hole, Human Resources Coordinator for Rohit Group, “everyone enjoyed coming together on a beautiful day to help support an important cause and get involved in the community!”
The funds raised during this year’s event will go to support the NOVA Program at the Edmonton John Howard Society. The NOVA Program provides homeless young people with a safe place to live as they develop the skills needed to make positive lifestyle choices and live independent, productive lives in the community.
